The first trend is the feasibility study of converting existing natural gas networks so they can be safely used for hydrogen transport.

The second trend is the construction of refueling stations to accommodate the expected growth of vehicles for large transport powered by green gas and hydrogen.

Hydrogen odorisation

Hydrogen, like natural gas, is naturally odorless, which can lead to dangerous situations, such as leaks. Odorization is the addition of a scent to hydrogen. Just like with natural gas, this contributes to a high level of safety.

Dutch energy distributor Alliander asked Kiwa to research and visualize the combustion of hydrogen at low concentrations. Kiwa developed a special test box and recording. The video shows that at low concentrations, the probability of ignition of hydrogen is lower compared with natural gas.
