The experts at Kiwa can provide an independent and expert opinion on the quality of the entire fresh produce range. For example, we periodically assess the quality of products from all affiliated growers on behalf of growers associations at growers and sales locations, and we check incoming goods or goods ready for shipment at various locations on behalf of trading companies. We also monitor the quality of the fresh produce range in shops and distribution centers for numerous chain stores.
Product quality
The quality of fruit and vegetable products can be assessed against EU and UNECE standards or customer specifications. Our inspections mainly focus on the external and internal product quality, which is usually determined visually. The state of ripeness, the firmness, the nature and degree of diseases and defects, the presentation and the sugar content (°Brix) can also be determined during an inspection.
Reports
Other aspects, such as designations, packaging, temperature, sorting and content weight, can also be part of the quality inspection. Measuring and weighing instruments are used for a number of these. Photos are also taken. Our reports, which include visual material, are sent directly to the clients after the inspection and stored in a database.
One-time inspections
If a client wants certainty about the quality of a specific batch or a (binding) decision in the event of a difference of opinion with a supplier or customer, Kiwa can be called in for a one-off quality inspection. All relevant findings of this inspection are included in a digital expert report.
