Our digital society has gotten used to the possibilities take care of things online. National and local authorities and other public sector organisations also increasingly use internet solutions for its services to citizens and businesses. This involves storing and processing (personal) data on a large scale. In such cases, trust is the keyword. Citizens and organisations want to be sure that their data, and therefore their privacy, is properly secured. And they want to know exactly what their personal information is being used for.

High security level

Kiwa is therefore introducing a new service: Trusted Third Party (TTP). Kiwa TTP is a service for the confidential storage of data at a very high security level that not only complies with the GDPR, but also with standards such as ISO 27001 and PKIoverheid (an enhanced form of the Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) standard).

Safe and independent

As an independent third party, Kiwa is only concerned with the storage of data and making them available to authorised persons, via a portal or an app. Kiwa TTP is intended for organisations that want to store their data with an independent party, using a very high security regime. With Kiwa TTP these organisations can be sure that their customers’ and stakeholders’ data is stored securely and independently.

International safety standards

The storage of sensitive data and data of a large number of people requires an approach that complies with the strictest international security standards. As part of its certification under the Dutch PKIoverheid standard and the international standard ETSI 319-411-2, Kiwa is certified as a Qualified Trust Service Provider (QTSP). This means, among other things, that the data from Kiwa's system is in principle irrefutable in legal proceedings. The British Standards Institution (BSI) annually checks Kiwa for compliance with all aspects of the PKIoverheid and ETSI standard.

Years of experience

Kiwa has many years of experience when it comes to setting up and managing information systems. Kiwa division Kiwa Register issues permits and authorisations in the transport sector on behalf of the Dutch Minister of Infrastructure and Water Management. In this context, Kiwa stores data for a total of 700,000 professionals, 100,000 of which are in the taxi market.

Independent since 1948

Kiwa was founded more than seventy years ago as an independent knowledge institute in the utility sector and today mainly provides services in the field of testing, inspections and certifications. As part of its role as an independent third party between companies and government, Kiwa also provides services in the field of high-quality, secure data storage and data analysis. Kiwa's independence is reflected, among other things, in the company policy that governments do not have access to the data stored by Kiwa customers under the TTP service.
