Kiwa Technology performs both qualitative and quantitative determinations of components in gaseous fuels (natural gas, biogas, and process gas) or in other matrix gases, such as air. Based on the composition, properties of these gases can be calculated, including calorific value, Wobbe index, density and compressibility.
The table below provides an overview of our standard analyses. Please reach out to us if you are interested in other types of analyses, such as the determination of the water dew point.

Gas chromatography according to NEN-ISO 6974 and NEN-ISO-6975, calorific value, density, Wobbe index, and compressibility in dry gas according to NEN-ISO 6976. |

Sampling
Prior to a gas analysis, you can perform sample collection yourself. If needed, Kiwa Technology can provide metal sample bottles and/or Tedlar bags along with sampling equipment. The selection of the sampling equipment is based on the pressure (2-200 bar) and gas composition (clean or contaminated gas). Tedlar bags are used for sampling to analyze sulfur compounds and/or silicon compounds.
On-site measurements
In some cases, it may be interesting or even necessary to have a Kiwa expert conduct on-site measurements. Some examples include:
- Determination of unstable gaseous compounds;
- Multiple determinations taking place at the same location;
- Determinations where results need to be immediately available for process optimization;
- Determinations where changes in gas composition need to be identified.
On-site determinations to be performed:
- Determination of the water dew point;
- Determination of CO and CO₂ in combustion gases;
- Ethene;
- Total hydrocarbon content.
Delivery and reporting time
The gas analysis will be conducted within five business days after the sample arrives at the Kiwa Technology laboratory. For urgent cases, a shorter delivery time can be agreed upon at an additional cost. Kiwa Technology provides a clear and comprehensive report for each gas analysis.
