Sports centre Indoor Action first independent fitness club to qualify for FITcert in Europe
Dutch-based sports centre Indoor Action is the first independent fitness club in the Netherlands and Europe to go for a FITcert certificate and will therefore be assessed by Kiwa ISA Sport. Fitness is one of the fastest growing sports in Europe. To ensure that everyone can practice fitness sports in a safe and healthy environment, independent assessment of for instance safety, accommodation and instructors is important. With the new European quality mark FITcert, fitness centres can demonstrate that they work to the highest quality standards.
"By achieving FITcert level 3, we show that we do everything possible to ensure our visitors exercise in safety and healthy. The certificate makes this visible to customers and provides them with extra trust in the quality of our services," says Michel de Boer , club manager at Indoor Action Arnhem. "Moreover, achieving the hallmark will be a nice reward for the steps we have taken with our team in recent years and gives us a nice guideline towards further improvements for the future."
The FITcert quality mark is developed by the European industry association EuropeActive, managed by the Netherlands Standardisation Institute (NEN) and independently tested by Kiwa. With the quality mark, a fitness centre demonstrates that it operates in accordance with the quality requirements of EN 17229. The assessment covers the quality of the accommodation and instructors, safety, but also membership contracts and anti-doping.
Certification against the FITcert label consists of four levels, allowing fitness facilities to work step-by-step towards the level that is feasible or preferred. Step-by-step certification also contributes to the principle of continuous improvement that EuropeActive wants to encourage with FITcert. After a successful audit, Indoor Action will be awarded the Level 3 certificate.
