Circularity

Circular entrepreneurship

In an ever-changing world where raw materials are becoming scarce there is a great need for circular entrepreneurship. On a global level, materials and products must be handled in a more sustainable way. The word circularity is crucial to reach that goal. Unfortunately currently the global economy is only 8.6% circular. This means that over 90% of the raw materials entering the economy is ultimately wasted and is not recycled. Circular entrepreneurship is necessary to change this and to further increase this global percentage.

Circular economy

The aim of a circular economy is to maximize the reuse of products and raw materials and minimize the loss of value at the same time. Or in other words: using products, raw materials and services in an economic and smart way. This means that companies who want to work according the principles of circular entrepreneurship. Their designers have to think carefully in advance about the materials they want to use and how these can be reused when the end-of-life of a product has been reached.
