The services of the Kiwa Italia Plastics Laboratory, accredited LAB No. 0001L by ACCREDIA, are aimed at plastics producers and processors who wish to verify the characteristics of finished plastic products, both at the performance level and at the polymer recognition level.
Tensile testing according to Standard UNI EN ISO 6259 consists of stressing along the longitudinal axis a specimen taken from finished product, using the Tensile Tester, to record the physical and mechanical properties of the material.
The tensile behavior of the specimens determines their stress strength and verifies physical/mechanical properties such as stress and percent elongation at yield, and stress and percent elongation at rupture of a constant section. Another very important property that can be determined through the tensile test is the relationship between the stress to which the specimen is subjected and the elastic deformation, i.e., the elastic modulus of the material under test, which basically gives an indication about the stiffness of the material.
The tensile test can also be performed in accordance with Standard UNI EN ISO 527. The test is carried out following the same procedure and is based on the same principles, but uses specimens taken from the raw material, obtained by molding and not by machining on the finished product. The dimensions of the specimens used are determined by the reference standards.
