Presenters

The webinar consists of several parts. We kick-off with a plenary session where the Swedish futurist Gustaf Josefsson Tadaa will talk to us into the possibilities of technology in the future. Subsequently, the group is split in two plenary sessions and presentations can be followed on topics related to Water or Renewable Energy. More information about the presenters will be added below.

On 12 January 2021 the recast Drinking Water Directive 2020/2184 (DWD) entered into force. The Commission (DG ENV) will address the provisions related to Article 11 of the recast DWD with regard to materials that come into contact with water intended for human consumption. Proff. R. Ad van Wijk –

“Why Hydrogen?”

In 1874 Jules Verne wrote in his book 'The Mysterious Island'. “Yes my friends, I am convinced that water will one day be used as fuel and that hydrogen (…) will be an inexhaustible source of heat and light!" He was a visionary but now gets it right. But why hydrogen and why now, and what role will hydrogen play in a sustainable energy system? Hydrogen, just like electricity, is not an energy source but an energy carrier, but why do we need that energy carrier? In my presentation I will discuss this system role of hydrogen and how hydrogen can be made, transported, stored and used.
