Deadline for UKCA marking extended to 1 January 2023
In a communication published on 24 August 2021, the UK government has postponed the deadline for CE marking by one year to 1 January 2023. The transition from the Conformité Européenne, or CE, mark to the new United Kingdom Conformity Assessed (UKCA) mark was originally scheduled for the end of 2021. It has now been extended until the end of 2022.
This means that CE-marked goods, which meet EU requirements, can continue to be placed on the UK market for another year. This will give manufacturers more time to deal with the conformity assessment process for the UKCA Marking of their products.
In the same communication, the UK Government warns that manufacturers of products destined for the UK market will need to ensure that they are ready to apply the UKCA Mark by 1 January 2023, which will be the deadline.
