Who is Kiwa Watermark certification and testing for?
The Kiwa Watermark product certification for backflow prevention safety devices is important for contractors, architects, installers, plumbers and anyone working for a municipality or housing association involved in installing drinking water installations.
About Kiwa Watermark for backflow prevention safety devices
Kiwa Watermark quality mark certified backflow prevention devices guarantee compliance with the requirements of Dutch and international standards for products used for drinking water distribution. In addition, the products meet the hygienic requirements, as set by the Dutch government.
Only products that meet all requirements - including an agreed constant quality level - can be certified by Kiwa with the Kiwa Watermark. In many cases, a Kiwa Watermark certificate is a base for certification in other European countries, for example, DVGW (Germany), CSTB (France), ÖVGW (Austria) and SVGW (Switzerland).
Protection of dangerous devices
The protection of so-called dangerous appliances is an important part of the protection of Dutch drinking water. Due to the nature of the liquids contained in these appliances, they can pose a risk to the drinking water in the installation to which they are connected.
Hazardous devices that occur are therefore assessed; the assessment is aimed at identifying the risk and prescribing appropriate security. In the performance of their statutory audit task, drinking water companies then check whether the correct security is indeed in place. More information can be found at infodwi.nl.
