October 2024 | Innovation Science and Economic development Canada publishes RSS-210 Issue 11, License-Exempt Radio Apparatus: Category I equipment. Link: RSS-210 — Licence-Exempt Radio Apparatus: Category I Equipment (canada.ca) The standard covers radio apparatus such as field disturbance radars, speed radars, wireless Microphones, fixed point-to-point systems, communication devices, wideband devices, goods tracking, medical telemetry, momentary operated, remote-control devices and more. The Document has been updated to introduce new Radar limits and bands in 57-71GHz band. Wireless Multi channel Audio Systems (WMAS) also added to allow new digital microphone technologies. The whole document has also been updated/revised for clarity. |
October 2024 | Innovation Science and Economic development Canada publishes RSS-133-Issue 7 — Personal Communications Service Equipment Operating in the Bands 1850-1915 MHz and 1930-1995 MHz: Link: RSS-133 — Personal Communications Service Equipment Operating in the Bands 1850-1915 MHz and 1930-1995 MHz (canada.ca) The document has been updated to reflect the current Radio Standards Specification (RSS) structure, including removal of receiver spurious emissions as this is covered under RSS-GEN, clarification on definitions, and further additions to power requirements for certain types of equipment. |
October 2024 | Innovation Science and Economic development Canada publishes RSS-216 Issue 3 for Wireless Power Transfer Devices: link: RSS-216 — Wireless Power Transfer Devices (canada.ca) The document has been updated extensively and includes several clarifications. The standard is numbered as an RSS-2xx series standard; however, it also applies to devices that can be categorized as Interference-causing equipment (ICES) or license-exempt radio equipment (Cat 1 or Cat 2), ISED believe that having all WPT equipment under one standard is more beneficial. |

May 2024 | The rules of the Common Charger Directive will be applicable for handheld mobile phones, tablets, digital cameras, headphones, headsets, handheld videogame consoles, portable speakers, e-readers, keyboards, mice, portable navigation systems and earbuds, as of 28 December 2024. These rules will be applicable for laptops as of 28 April 2026. These categories of radio equipment are listed in Annex Ia and the rules introduced to the RED by the Common Charger Directive apply to them, as of the dates indicated above, if the radio equipment concerned is capable of being recharged by means of wired charging. |
