This technique is equally suited to private homes, industry, SMEs and the tertiary sector, as it is to installers.
What you need to know
Thermal energy or infrared radiation is invisible light because its wavelength is too long to be seen by the human eye. It is the part of the electromagnetic spectrum that we perceive as heat. Anything warmer than absolute zero emits infrared radiation. Even very cold objects like ice cubes emit infrared radiation. The higher the temperature of an object, the greater the infrared radiation. Thanks to infrared techniques, we can perceive what our eyes cannot.
Infrared cameras make it possible to measure temperatures with the utmost precision and in the absence of contact. Measurements are taken without any waiting time, and also provide visible temperature diagrams.
Entrust the inspection of your electrical installation to an expert from Vinçotte (member of Kiwa Group). Safety, operational reliability and comfort are the keywords when it comes to the smooth running of an electrical installation.
Thermography is an "ON¬STREAM" technique, which means that installations remain in service during the inspection. It's a very safe technique, since there's no contact with any part of the installation, and offers technical and economic advantages:
- prevention of power failures, which is useful for production;
- prevention of fire;
- lower maintenance costs;
- increased plant life through appropriate modifications;
- lower material costs, as it is possible to intervene before a fault destroys a plant component.
- destroy a plant component.
There are many areas of application:
- electrical installations (uneven loads, poor connections, etc.) ;
- leak detection (water, heating, etc.);
- detection of thermal pollution in rivers;
- helicopter thermography (HV lines, buildings, etc.);
- thermal insulation checks (buildings, cold rooms, ovens, freezers, boilers, etc.);
- energy loss detection;
- process control;
- solar panel control.
Vinçotte is accredited by BELAC, in accordance with NBN EN ISO/IEC 17020, to carry out thermographic inspections. A team of expert operators with sophisticated equipment can provide an electronic report on site after carrying out an inspection, for example:
- Electrical installation inspections
- Mechanical inspections
- Insulation checks, steam pipes, etc.
- Building inspections
- Detecting leaks in central heating and underfloor heating systems
Advantages
A thermographic survey carried out by Vinçotte is a cost-effective way of detecting a problem. Your production doesn't have to be stopped, and the safety of your staff and your plant is always guaranteed.
What's more, a thermographic survey extends the life of your equipment, as faults can be detected and corrected before they have a chance to cause greater damage.
