Kiwa CMT’s services
Kiwa CMT offer inspection and testing services to the Highways, Construction and Sports sectors both on site and supported by our UKAS accredited laboratories.
We offer inspection, structural testing and full data collection services on lighting columns and other highway assets. Data surveys can include the identification of DNO, local authority sources with private cables and the obtaining of GPS locations, along with recording a wide range of attributes tailored to the client’s requirements. We can also assist with unit certification and a full visual inspection all with guidance from ILP GN22.
Our RLS system
Our unique RLS system was developed specifically to locate and quantify corrosion of steel columns that cannot be identified by visual inspection e.g. internal corrosion of the base/root and hot-swaged joint.
The technique for lighting column testing is a dry-coupled system that provides a cost-efficient assessment of the column. Results obtained estimate the percentage loss of section allowing the columns to be classified (on a scale of 1-5) for either replacement or periodic retesting. An electronic reporting procedure enables test results to be uploaded directly into the client's inventory.
Our reports are in line with ILP GN22 with recommendations given for each column tested from replacement to a recommended retest period.
Other services include the analysis of lighting columns for the installation of attachments in the form of either seasonal decorations, hanging baskets, CCTV cameras, signs etc. Catenary wire anchor point load testing is also available, all carried out with guidance from ILP PLG06.
