About KOMO certification assessment guidelines
KOMO certification under Kiwa assessment guideline BRL5609 applies to factory-insulated flexible plastic pipe systems i.e. pipes, fittings, insulation and outer casing assembled together. This means that for these systems is not possible to certify just a particular part like the pipe or fitting on its own. If a piping system is certified, the process for installing also must have been certified. The lifetime of these systems (pipe, fitting and connection) shall be at least 30 years.
The assessment guideline BRL 5609 consists of two parts:
- Part 1: Installation
Based on assessment guideline BRL 5609-1, a process certificate can be issued for installing the system on site. - Part 2: Products
Assessment guideline BRL 5609-2 applies to products intended for usage in pipe systems for hot water distribution outside buildings at a design pressure (= maximum operating pressure) of 10 bar, 8 bar or 6 bar.
