These days EMC certification is mandatory in most markets and for that reason EMC testing is necessary to get your product approved to a specific geographical market. Kiwa has a modern EMC test lab that can conduct conformity assessments which grants your equipment access to most markets in the world (Europe, USA, Canada, Japan, etc.). When your product has successfully passed the certification process, you not only have access to the specific market, but you also strengthened your competitive position in this market.
What is EMC testing?
EMC is the interaction of electrical and electronic equipment with its electromagnetic environment and with other equipment in that same environment. It is also the susceptibility to EMC phenomena, such as induced RF-energy, ESD, Surges, EFT and so on. Kiwa has thorough expertise in this field, for example when it comes to ECE R10 testing. All electronic devices have the potential to emit electromagnetic fields and their use in every-day life makes EMC more and more important.
EMC testing ensures that your electrical and electronic products do not adversely affect, or are affected, by other products. In other words: EMC testing checks the ability of equipment (or systems) to function properly in an electromagnetic environment without disturbing or interfering other nearby receiving products.
Examples of the types of products covered by our EMC testing services:
- Information Technology Equipment
- Analogue & Digital Telecommunication Terminal Equipment
- Industrial Control Equipment
- Laboratory Equipment
- Gaming Machines
- Domestic Appliances
- Other commercial products
EMC certification process
Kiwa’s EMC services cover the entire product chain, from design to marketing and cover all types of products. Our engineers can help with product modifications to resolve any problems encountered during EMC testing prior to completion of the test program. Upon completion of testing, we can assist with any certification and global approvals requirements, and keep you informed of any standard / regulatory changes to ensure your product remains compliant throughout its lifecycle.
National and International Standards
We evaluate the requirements your electronic equipment or system must meet in order to comply with both national and international standards. At Kiwa we are accredited/notified bodies to ISO/IEC 17025 and ISO/IEC 17065 standards for:
- RED Europe (CE)
- FCC USA
- ISED Canada
- MIC Japan & Japan: VCCI Registered
- Australia & New Zealand: ACMA Conformity Assessment Body
- UKCA
In addition to EMC testing, Kiwa can assist with:
- Safety testing (LVD)
- Ingress Protection testing
- Global Market Access
NOTE: For EMC and radio testing to regulations, it is required that as a customer you offer the Equipment Under Test to Kiwa in a specific testmode and offer a diversity of performance criteria.
