Kiwa offers the following performance upgrades for the AR7030 and the AR7030 Plus.
Audio Upgrade
This
modification is for those who want the absolute best audio
from the receiver. We replace all audio coupling capacitors
that may degrade the audio quality. We also replace the
speaker wire with a silver plated type. The end result is
improved audio clarity above and beyond the excellent audio
as it comes stock. This upgrade will improve the definition
of consanants which is important for
intelligibility.

Performance Upgrade
The AR7030 has excellent immunity to signal overload. Early receivers
before serial number 101000 had a problem where the IP3-Third Order
Intercept figure decreased
from a high +30 dBm or greater
to +10 to +12 dBm as one tunes closer to
the MW BCB. This situation was due to the components in the input filter.
Basically they were not capable of handling high input signals often
encountered when one is near a MW transmitter site. Kiwa offers a
modification to the input filters to restore the IP3 to typically +33
dBm at 1.9 MHz. This modification will greatly
enhance its signal overload immunity to strong MW BCB
signals. Please note that this modification will only benefit those
receivers before SR 101000 and it is only available for
receivers shipped to Kiwa for modification. It is not available as a kit.
Typical improvements are as follows:
SR 100147
IP3 at 1.9 MHz before filter modifications +11.25 dBm
IP3 at 1.9 MHz after filter modifications +33 dBm
SR 100306
IP3 at 1.9 MHz before filter modifications +11.50 dBm
IP3 after filter modifications +33 dBm
SR 100177
IP3 at 1.9 MHz before filter modifications +10.25 dBm
IP3 at 1.9 MHz after filter modifications +31.5
dBm
SR100097
IP3 at 1.9 MHz before filter modifications +12 dBm
IP3 at 1.9 MHz after filter modifications +36 dBm
SR
100343
IP3 at 1.9 MHz before filter modifications +12 dBm
IP3 at 1.9 MHz after filter modifications +36 dBm
SR
100350
IP3 at 1.9 MHz before filter modifications +10 dBm
IP3 at 1.9 MHz after filter modifications +33 dBm
Input Filter Performance Upgrade $70.00 (price includes
required components)
Sync Detector Temperature Stabilization
Sync Detector
Alignment
Kiwa also offers alignment of the sync
detector locking range.
Price
$25.00
Kiwa offers installation of several temperature stabilization components (thermistors) to stabilize the Sync Detector operation over an extended temperature range. This is similar to the recommended upgrade from AOR.
Sync Detector Temperature Stabilization $40.00
FET Replacement
The FETs in some early sets were known to fail. AOR has since
remedied the problem. Kiwa offers the same solution as now
installed in current sets. If your receiver suddenly fails
taking the input fuse, there's a very good chance that the FETs
have failed. Kiwa repairs consists of FET replacements with
the required modifications. It also involves adjustment of
the bias voltage for best possible IP2 or Second Order
Intercept performance (F1 +F2). As best as we can tell, the
factory installed FET modifications were initiated somewhere
just below SR 100200.
FET Repair Price (includes
components) $50.00
